Constructed in 1992 and designed by WZMH Architects, La Tour McGill stands on one of Montreal's most prestigious streets. Commonly known by it's address, 1501 McGill College Ave, the building serves as a 36 story office space for various different legal and financial firms. In this backlit photograph, I wanted to emphasize the building's sharp, straight lines (straight line image), while simultaneously putting it's unique architecture on display. I chose to add different elements to the frame, like part of a different building and part of a tree, to make the overall image more interesting and fun.
Located on 1030 rue de Bleury, this beautifully designed building was constructed in 2020, making it only five years old today. The 39-story condo complex, offers a variety of luxurious and modern units, as well as various different amenities. In this photograph, I wanted highlight the building's straight lines (straight line image), while using the lighting to my advantage. The facade of the building being completely lit by the sun, gives it a graphic look, almost as if the building were some sort of drawing. The handful of opened windows amongst the closed ones break the symmetry and pattern of the photograph, giving it a more interesting look.
Located on 228 Le Moyne Street, this residential building, with its vintage architecture style, immediately caught my eye. In this photograph, I mainly wanted to capture the light bouncing onto the windows and around various areas of the stone. I also wanted to give the image a more cinematic look by including the people walking by in the frame and slightly playing around with the colours.
