Exteriors Assignment
Located on 1030 rue de Bleury, this beautifully designed building was constructed in 2020, making it only five years old today. The 39-story condo complex, offers a variety of luxurious and modern units, as well as various different amenities. In this photograph, I wanted highlight the building's straight lines (straight line image), while using the lighting to my advantage. The facade of the building being completely lit by the sun, gives it a graphic look, almost as if the building were some sort of drawing. The handful of opened windows amongst the closed ones break the symmetry and pattern of the photograph, giving it a more interesting look.
Located on 777 Blvd Robert-Bourassa, Evo Montreal was originally constructed in 1976 and was formally known as the Delta Hotel. In 2013, it was renovated and redesigned into private student residences. Located near multiple universities such as Mc Gill, Evo Montreal offers affordable housing featuring amenities such as a gym, a heated pool and a library. In this photograph, I wanted to highlight the building's intricate design as well as it's sharp vertical and horizontal lines (straight line image). I also rotated the image side ways, giving the image a more interesting and graphic look.
Built between 2000 and 2003, Édifice Jacques-Parizeau , formally known as CDP Capital Centre, was designed by architecture firms such as Daoust Lestage, FABG and Lemay et Associés. Found on 1000 Pl. Jean-Paul-Riopelle, the "horizontal skyscraper" was constructed for the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. In this photograph, I wanted to showcase the mixture of artificial and available light created by the building and the dusk lighting (dusk photograph). I also added the upper part of a street light to add a fun little element to the picture and make it more exciting.
Located on 808 Av. Papineau, Garneau Elementary School was built between 1916 and 1917, and was designed by architect Joseph-Omer Marchand. Today, the building serves as a safe, fun and warm elementary school for children around Montreal. In this photograph, I attempted a more dynamic composition, including artificial and available light (Dusk photograph), by shooting further away from the building and using long exposure on the passing cars. This photograph allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and explore a different style of photography.
The KPMG Tour, located in downtown Montreal, was constructed in 1987 by the firm Menkès Shooner Dagenais Létourneux Architecte. The 34-story, intricately designed skyscraper, serves as a commercial tower and is known for it's pink colour. For this creative photograph, I decided to snap a picture looking up at the building, where multiple of it's parts overlap onto each other. I wanted to showcase it's unique design and architecture, as well as it's three dimensionality. I decided not to straighten the building as well as converting it to black and white, to give it a more artistic and fun composition.
